Ernest Shackleton, Trans Antarctic Expedition on the ship Endurance, 1914 - 1917.
1916 - Shackleton sails from a South Georgia whaling station on the whaler Southern Sky to rescue his men stranded on Elephant Island, it will be his first of four attempts to reach them and more than three months until he is successful.
