1911 - Day, Nelson and Lashly probing a crevasse with a snow bridge, the dip to the left, on the Barne Glacier. Crevasse bridges can be strong and substantial or collapse with the lightest footfall, careful probing is needed before attempting to cross. Note use of pipe to aid physical exertion.
