Ernest Shackleton, British Antarctic Expedition on the ship Nimrod, 1907- 1909.
1908 - George Marston in his cubicle at the Cape Royds Hut. He was expedition artist on this and on the later on with the Endurance - and something of a joker!.
1895 - The Opening of the the Sixth International Geographical Congress held in London that will declare "...the exploration of the Antarctic Regions is the greatest piece of geographical exploration still to be undertaken" so opening the curtain on the "Heroic Age" of Antarctic exploration.
