1983 - The world's lowest ever temperature recorded at the Russian Vostok station in Antarctica -89.2 °C (-128.6 °F). Mean July (usually the coldest month) temperatures there are -66.7 °C (-88.1 °F), while in December, midsummer temperatures reach a balmy mean of -31.8 °C (-25.2 °F)
