Robert Falcon Scott, British Antarctic Expedition on the ship Discovery, 1901 - 1904.
1901 - The Discovery iced in for the winter at "Winter Quarters Bay", the expedition lived and worked on the ship with the main shore hut used for storage and shelter. Escape from the ice would prove a problem and on future expeditions, ships would return north for the winter.
