1916 - The lifeboat James Caird lands at South Georgia after an 800 mile open ocean journey from Elephant Island to fetch help for the rest of the stranded crew:

"Clumsy with cold, exhaustion and swollen numb feet we emptied the boat. Hot
milk, hot hoosh, up half the night saving the boat from
the sea."
They are on the wrong side of the island.
