1909 - Edgeworth David, Mackay and Mawson reach the Magnetic South Pole.

1913 - Three great explorers of the age, picture taken in Philadelphia USA. Amundsen (left) reached the South Pole just over a year before, Shackleton (centre) had been within 97 miles of the South Pole and was yet to set out on his Endurance expedition, Peary (right) had claimed to reach the North Pole in 1909 (now considred unlikely).
