Ernest Shackleton, Trans Antarctic Expedition on the ship Endurance, 1914 - 1917.
1915 - the first of three teams of the Ross Sea Party set off to lay food and supply depots for Shackleton's' team from the Endurance to use on the way from the South Pole to the Ross Sea on their Trans-Antarctic journey. Unknown to them the Endurance is by now trapped in pack-ice and the teams they are layig supplies for will never come.
Robert Falcon Scott, British Antarctic Expedition (South Pole Expedition) on the ship Terra Nova, 1910 - 1913.
1911 - Terra Nova sails from Hut Point to establish an Eastern Party on the far side of the Ross Ice Shelf. Scott remains at the hut, the party of 6 men is led by Victor Campbell, 2nd in command of the expedition.
Roald Amundsen, Norwegian South Pole Expedition on the ship Fram, 1910 - 1912.
1912 - Amundsen and his team arrive back at Framheim, their winter quarters at the Bay of Whales after becoming the first to reach the South Pole, they have been away for 99 days and covered 1,860 miles.
