Ernest Shackleton, Shackleton-Rowett Expedition on the ship Quest, 1921 - 1922.
1922 - Frank Wild at the masthead of the Quest in the Southern Ocean, a barrel for the crow's nest. After Shackleton's death on the 5th January that year, the expedition continued though was cut short. Wild would not return to Antarctica, his 5 expeditions spanned the Heroic Age.
The barrel is preserved today in the crypt museum of All Hallows by the Tower church in London, here.
